i'm ok.

i'm ok. i'm fine. i'm doing well. everything is peachy. things are going well for me. it's all good. smooth sailing. i'm ok. right? RIGHT?

thanks for the conversation today, eric. talking inside of carls jr for a while. about life. and everything in it. about careers. about girls. about boys. just about anything. and sorry that the family touched your cup and probably spit in it. haha. shouldnt have left it to pee.

stereotypes. what it means to be a boy. what it means to be a girl. SPOP really made me think about what i think about masculinity/femininity. the things we characterize with male and female. it's kinda weird how from the day we're born we're put into a world of stereotypes. i mean if youre a boy you're wearing a blue hat and matching booties. and now we see that blue is a color for boy. if you saw a baby in a hospital and it was wearing pink. wouldnt you be confused? i feel like that's exactly how we are now. when something goes outside of the norm. when something bends the ideas of what masculinity and femininity is. we are confused. and often reject them. as SPOP staffers. as well as people that want to make a difference in the world. shouldnt we be different. shouldnt we accept these challenges to modern assumptions about gender and roles? we should. we should applause these people not judge them for making bold statements. so join in. congratulate them. commend them. and when we have kids. teach them to be different. to not have their live be run by stereotypes of what it means to be a 'boy' or 'girl.' we may not be able to change how things are now. but we can attempt to prevent them from starting up in the next generation. so to my kids. look forward to freedom in being yourself. whatever that entails is really up to you.
