WARNING: LONG STORY AHEAD. ONLY READ IF REALLY BOREDD.
sooo...this morning's opening shift at work was nothing like it usually is. the norm is for a quiet two hours of key counting and the occasional person coming in to pick up a package but today was anything from this simple opening shift.
today. a guy wearing a UCLA bruins shirt came in and asked if he could use the telephone at around 9:25am. he seemed like he was stuck in a situation and could need some help so i said that i would dial the number. i asked what number he needed to dial...in order to dial out you have to dial 9 and 1.. then the number. he gave me the number starting with 1 242....it started to ring..i hung up..only to have the police call a second later saying that they received a 911 call from the number. after realizing that i had just dialed 911 i told them that everything was fine. i tried to dial the number again and 911 were the first three numbers........alright. i hung up the phone before it went through. i asked the guy to write down the number and he said that he didnt want to write it down and that he wasn't good at it. at this moment i was getting more suspicious of this guy. so i tried again and successfully dialed the right number.
he left a voicemail saying 'hey babe. i'm kind of stranded here right now. i'm at the front office so if you could call this number back that would be great.' gave the phone back and asked if he could wait to see if she called back. so i let him.
a minute later a girl walks to drop something off. the guys asks to use her phonee....i just let him use the telephone. she was creeped out but let him use her phone. he got the voicemail again and after giving the girl a compliment about her earrings for letting him use her phone she left. a couple minutes after he left as well.
i didnt think anything about it after that. just a strange event. but five minutes after he left the police ran in. one a caucasian woman saying "what's going on?" and the other an asian police officer with his club up in the air.
what. the. hell. you come charging into the housing office with a club in hand, out of breath and you ask me whats going on??? i responded....'with what?' the woman replied 'we received a call about a suspicious male wearing a UCLA t-shirt in the housing office.' i told her that he was here a few minutes ago but headed off to the right. exit police officers.
at this time i was really concerned. i told the next person on shift about the story as a heads up if anything happens. about an hour later the person working after me said that he was back asking to use the phone. i told her to call the police department right away. by the time they got there he was gone. but about an hour later i had received news that he had been caught. i had to give my story so that the police could find out exactly everything that happened. he may or may not have been slapped with a restraining order. and may or may not be sitting in jail. WHAT. THE. i wish that this was a scene from a movie. but it wasn't. it really happened to me. and it would.
that was just the start of my day too. i was rushing around right before by 1pm class fixing my powerpoint that wasn't working on other people's computers while still trying to dress myself so that i could pick up candy and get to class a half hour early to set up. finished it. gave my presentation in front of the class with cat and tiyaanah. pretty sure we got an A. yes. finished class at around 3:30pm.
went to work from 4-6. made some awesome ping pong tournament posters. then had dance from 6-10pm. it's actualy coming togetherrrrr. we have dress rehearsal tomorrow...and the last two weeks have been nothing but dancing. and dancing. and then yes..dancing again. came back and danced for another hour. then took a shower rinsing off 5 hours of sweat. THE SHOWER FELT SO GOOD.
had a good conversation today about religion with eric. craig. and doris. it was really interesting hearing their point of view about things like fate and free choice. it felt nice giving my input as well. hopefully more conversations like this in the future.
i wronged a friend. and usually i try to make excuses about it. like this is what came up or this is what stopped me. or i was busy doing this. but really. come on now. eventually you're going to have to be a man and just own up to the things in your life. so i apologize. im sorry about today. it was my fault. and i hope that you can forgive me for not being a man of my word.
